Director and Senior Clinical Psychologist

James is Co-Director of Set Point Psychology and brings a wealth of experience in both NHS mental health services and the private sector. James’ qualifications are unique as he has both an MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. 

 

James is a member of the UK Sports Institute Mental Health Practitioner Network. This is a selected group of practitioners across the country, supporting Olympic and Paralympic athlete mental health within world class programmes. He has extensive experience of supporting mental health within performance settings including professional football, academy football, professional tennis and Olympic sports. This experience includes direct support to athletes, consultation to staff and comprehensive mental health training.

James also brings lived experience of playing and working within elite sport environments. He played tennis to a professional standard (ATP Futures) and later coached tennis in a number of high performance roles in both the UK and Australia.

He currently works part-time in the NHS at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital alongside his private practice. James’s work is informed by cognitive behavioural therapy, compassion focused therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy.

Dr Daniel Reed

Director and Clinical Psychologist

Daniel is Co-Director of Set Point Psychology. He is a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist with over 6 years’ experience in the NHS and Private Practice and is a former England table tennis international with 23 World Championship caps. He is a Commonwealth Games silver medallist and former National Champion, as well as a European gold medallist at youth level.

Daniel currently works part-time in the NHS at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital alongside his private practice. He offers assessment and evidence-based therapeutic interventions for children and adults experiencing a range of difficulties related to mental health, stress and performance. His work is informed by cognitive behavioural therapy, compassion focused therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy.

Daniel offers both online support and face-face sessions at his clinic in Sale.

Dr Paula Hull, Consultant Clinical Psychologist

Dr Paula Hull

Consultant Clinical Psychologist

Paula's experience in mental health services spans more than 25 years. As a current Consultant Clinical Psychologist in a busy NHS CAMHS service, Paula sits in the senior management team, and manages both psychology and psychological therapies for the service.

Paula offers assessment and treatment for a wide range of behavioural and emotional difficulties for both adults and young people, with a special interest in anxiety challenges, including PTSD, panic disorder, OCD, and specific phobia.

She is a qualified CBT clinician and trained in EMDR and DBT. She also offers supervision in CBT, and can be commissioned to develop and deliver training across most areas of child and adolescent mental health.
